Suggested Ages: 3 to 6
This weekly program in a charming children’s library includes the reading of a New-York-themed book, a related craft project and silly dances and games. Books change weekly and are often related to current holidays and seasons.
This week read Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins by Eric A. Kimmel, with illustrations by Trina Schart Hyman. In this story, the traditional Jewish folk hero Hershel of Ostropol arrives in a small village on the first night of Hanukkah and discovers that a group of goblins have taken over the synagogue and forbidden the villagers from celebrating. Hershel is determined to outwit the goblins and save Hanukkah. Come find out if he succeeds, and after the story, make your own Hanukkah dreidel.
