From Tudor Queens to Pop Princesses, the six wives of Henry VIII take the mic to remix five hundred years of historical heartbreak into an exuberant celebration of 21st century girl power. More like a rock concert than a traditional musical, with each of the wives singing her story in the style of pop stars like Beyonce and Ariana Grande. An amazingly talented cast in killer costumes sings catchy tunes with clever (mostly historical accurate) lyrics, engages in humorous banter and comes together in a joyous feminist megamix.

A huge favorite of my nine-year-old daughter who is now an expert on the Reformation. A short running time and relaxed atmosphere make it a great show for kids who can handle lots of noise and somewhat racy history.

⏱ 80 minutes with no intermission

🤬 Bitch, damn and hell are sung, and prick is almost sung.
❤️nSome innuendo that mostly goes over younger kids’ head like “he doesn’t want to bang you,” “if you could get it up,’” “I guess he really liked my head” – “Don’t Lose Your Head” and “All You Wanna Do” are the raciest songs if you want to preview. References to adultery and sexual abuse of a 13 year old and a 30-year-old music teacher, but no graphic details.
💥 Talk of beheading, miscarriages and dying in childbirth, but the tone is mostly light-hearted and the Queens are all alive and thriving throughout the show.
💥 Loud like a rock concert.

🎟 Discount tickets starting at $99 for rear mezzanine available for some dates on TodayTix. Ticket prices range slightly between different dates. Tuesday and Thursday nights, usually the cheapest, are over by 8:20 pm.
🎟 Enter the digital lottery the day before the show $30 tickets (usually in the front row).
🎟 A limited number of standing room tickets are available at the box office for $49 the day of the performance when the show is sold out.

📖 Get some backstory in Who Was Henry VIII? plus some her-storical comeuppance to his obsession with sons in Who Was Queen Elizabeth?. Seven award-winning and bestselling authors tell each wives story from a different point of view in the fascinating Fatal Throne: The Wives of Henry VIII Tell All (for teens+).

⭐️ See some Haus of Holbein portraits at the Met. Have some fancy French-style tea & food a-la Anne’s childhood at nearby Angelina Paris.
