Learn about the many ways New Yorkers have shared their New York City stories over the years, with art and artifacts representing each of the city’s 5 boroughs.

From mosaics by local artist Manny Vega to a painting by Brooklyn-based painter Malcah Zeldis, experience the art firsthand using a scavenger hunt before participating in a range of interactive activities, including a riddle-based guessing game connected to the scavenger hunt, mosaic-making, and creating maps of communities inspired by objects from the museum’s collection.

This month’s programs are inspired by Byzantine Bembé: New York by Manny Vega, an exhibition that features the works of local artist Manny Vega, the Museum’s inaugural artist-in-residence. Vega depicts scenes from the Museum of the City of New York’s own neighborhood, El Barrio, where he was raised, and invites visitors to learn more about our neighborhood and to consider their own.
